TIOMBE PARTICIPATES IN FIRST-EVER
Powerful Bones. Powerful Girls.™ COMMUNITY EVENT

Herndon, Virginia (November 11, 2007) – Tiombe participated in the National Bone Health Campaign's (NBHC) first-ever Powerful Bones. Powerful Girls.™ community event on Sunday, November 11th, at Herndon Middle School in Virginia. Powerful Bones. Powerful Girls.™ is a national effort led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women’s Health to promote optimal bone health in girls aged 9 to 12, and thus help reduce their risk of osteoporosis later in life. The goal is to educate and encourage girls and their parents to establish lifelong healthy habits, especially increased calcium consumption and weight-bearing physical activity to build and maintain strong bones.

The Powerful Bones. Powerful Girls.™ community event had a great turnout and young girls enjoyed activities such as soccer, basketball, an obstacle course, a rock-climbing wall, kickboxing, cheerleading, and demonstrations on healthy cooking. As a leader in the community and an elite athlete that participates in an event that is extremely stressful on the body, Tiombe was a perfect role model to promote healthy living, including the importance of building and maintaining strong bones. She mingled with the attendees and took part in several of the fitness stations.
